W.B. "Mitch" Mitchell
FounderFounder & Managing Principal — Federal & Commercial Practice
Agentic AI · DHA · VA · CMS · HHS · Federal Market Strategy · Go-To-Market · Digital Health
Mitch Mitchell is the founder of Echelon Health and one of the most experienced growth and strategy executives working at the intersection of federal healthcare, clinical AI, and digital transformation. With 25+ years building healthcare technology businesses from inception to national scale — across venture-backed startups, Fortune 500 enterprises, and federal programs — he brings a rare combination of operational credibility, strategic depth, and mission-centered leadership to every engagement.
Mitch has spent his career doing the work that Echelon Health now advises on. As Chief Growth Officer at Hippocratic AI, he built the federal government business unit from scratch for the $3.5 billion leader in agentic clinical AI, establishing pipeline, partnerships, and compliance infrastructure for programs spanning CMS, DHA, VA, and HHS. At Amwell, as Group Vice President of Government Solutions, he led the strategy and execution of the $180M contract that powered My Military Health — the Defense Health Agency's digital-first care platform — increasing telehealth utilization across Military Treatment Facilities by over 930%, and earning the FedHealthIT Innovation Award. Over 16 years at Change Healthcare, RelayHealth, and McKesson, he rose to National Vice President of Federal Solutions, securing the company's largest DoD engagement and earning McKesson's President's Club recognition for a decade straight.
Mitch founded the original Echelon Health consulting practice in 2001, advising Partners HealthCare on digital health strategy and consumer engagement — before the term "digital health" existed. His career has been defined by a consistent pattern: entering markets early, building organizations from the ground up, and delivering results that others said couldn't be achieved. His perspective is that of someone who has sat across the table from federal CIOs, program executives, and congressional staffers — who understands the procurement realities, stakeholder dynamics, and mission stakes that make federal healthcare transformation so difficult, and so consequential.
